I'm kind of upset right now. I have started Christmas shopping... Yeah I start early... Matter of fact I've already finished shopping for 2 of my sisters... But I digress! I am upset because some of the gifts that I ordered for other family members are missing. The delivery confirmation says they have been delivered to my door... LAST FRIDAY! Man, WTF kinda mess is that!? Now I have to send out some nasty emails, demand a refund, and find another place to purchase the gifts from because this company is unreliable. At this rate, I'll have my shopping done in November. So much for starting early.

Pissin' The Day Away...

I cannot believe that I pissed away my WHOLE 3 day weekend. I did NOTHING productive... Well yeah I did get out... I went shopping, cleaned my clothes, made some (2) nylon flower, cooked, and baked some cookies (from scratch),took care of Munch because she is still sore from her surgery. And then I slept and slept.... AND SLEPT (shakes my head)

People find me odd. I got a new car & I haven't even taken it on a decent "spin"... Sometimes I wonder if I will ever have a reason again to untangle myself from my bed sheets, clean myself up, and toss myself into the world. My hula girl really wants to shake her hips...

But on a more positive note. Krys' birthday is on Thursday! Yay! ♥ We plan on going to the Shrimp Boat, sit at the bar, down some shots, grub on some sushi, and sip on some margaritas!

So today marks the day that I can start drinking carbonated beverages. Well I took my first sip of Coke this morning. I can honestly say that I did not enjoy the experience one bit. It hurt more than anything. The fizzing in my mouth and nose, on my teeth and down my throat brought tears to my eyes. I cannot see the allure of this. Just to think... I have 5 more at home... Auuugh!

Today also marks the day I will go the whole month of April FAST FOOD FREE! At the end of April, I sincerely hope that I have the same reaction to fast food that I had with the Coke. I want to stop poisoning my body. I am annoyed with myself that it has taken 3 decades to actually take the first step.

I cannot believe I haven't blogged since October.
It could be the fact that I haven't been up to much.

For the first 2 months of the 2010,
I have been writing down all the things I would like to accomplish this year.
The whole list consisted of "Cut back on this"... "Do this not that"
So basically... I need to find my will power
I think I haven't see it since 2002.
I haven't seen my flat stomach just as long.

So I decided in the month of March,
I would go a whole month w/out any type of carbinated beverage.
If you knew how many sodas I drank...
No strike that!
How many LITERS of soda I drank a day you'd understand!
(I drank at least 4 liters a day)
But it has been 28 days soda free & I have survived
I bet when I do drink a soda on April 1st my teeth will be tingling.

Next month I am thinking about going a whole month without fast food.
I think I can do it!
Not only am I getting stronger mentally,
I have lost 7 lbs in the process.

Well I did do something.

Give Me Cookies... Or Leave Me The Hell Alone

So over the weekend I had a craving for chili (cole)saw dogs & chocolate chip & walnut cookies. I am very happy to say that I made both. I am thoroughly satisfied!My cookies weren't near as good as Liz's but I hey this was my first try at chocolate cookies from scratch. I think I did a darn good job. Munch think I did just fine. I saw her swipe a cookie that was cooling on the rack. (laughs)

I found the cookie recipe on www.bakerella.com. They have cute & edible ideas such as Pumpkin Pie Bites.

Linda & I have both decided that we'll go all out for this holiday. We'll be bouncing ideas off of each other. I am kind of excited. I am getting my usual holiday angst though. I never know what I want to make, decorate, bake, buy... The list goes on. I hope this year will be easier.

Test Run

For the life of me I cannot find a printer in Bay County, Florida that does not require me to place a minimum order of 100 postcards per design. I only need about 25 postcards per design, which I anticipate having 5 to 6 designs. That is 125 cards. I would think they would try to work with me. I may not be approaching it correctly (shrugs) Anyhoo!

My sister Elizabeth requested 20 postcards for her "October Pink" collection and I reluctantly accepted. I only say reluctantly because I did not have a place to print them. I guess I just needed a little encouragement. Now I am kind of excited. Strike that. I AM excited. I'm thinking of a ... Well I don't want to say because I want her to be surprised. All I can say is that I have found an online company that prints postcards at a fairly reasonable price. I have sent in one of my older postcards to be printed as a test run. (crosses fingers) We'll see how it turns out. I will be sending her some and then giving the rest to Krys to sell.

Now I'm thinking beach theme, cafe theme (ode to Liz)... Halloween... Oh the possibilities! But let me slow my role because I may get too enthusiastic too soon then I will turn out to hate it and ditch it like everything else in my life.

The time has come. My grammy is being transferred to hospice. My heart, body & soul are heavy. I cannot cry because I think I am actually cried out. I have been mourning my grammy since April 11th. I am prepared. What I wasn't prepared for is how soon this day has come. (sighs) How can one EVER be prepared for this?!

Is it wrong that I am kind of upset? That I'm angry because they told us 6 months but it hasn't even been a month. We were planning a party to celebrate her 60th birthday. We were going to celebrate one more Thanksgiving... Maybe another Christmas or in her Hannukah... And GOD willing her 42nd wedding anniversary. I feel like we were cheated. Death is so inconvenient & I am so bitter.

Messed Up Sunday!

We had plumbing issues today. Water flooded my parents bedroom, Mom's closet & the hallway. We didn't even need Hurricane / Tropical Storm Claudette to send rain our way.

I wish I could push rewind to yesterday. I made dark chocolate fudge cupcakes. Used the FAB hula cupcake toppers Liz bought me. Nibbled on the cupcakes while I read the "Stampin' Up!" catalog Sunshine sent me! While running my fingers through my newly cut hair.

Grammy is out of the hospital and back at home. She is adjusting to her environment but I think she is glad that she is where her heart is. We plan on going down to Ocala during the next federal holiday. I believe that is in the next two weeks.

Yeah, yesterday was significantly a better day!

Not Her Year

On Monday, we found out that Grammy's cancer came back. They anticipate that she has only six (6) to eight (8) months to live. (sighs)

Sunshine said it is our anniversary. ♥ 21 years. Wow! We're old.

Crap Is Not My Favorite Dish

My dad had, rather still has, a poster in his work shed that read:

That has become my motto for the last few months. Whatever happened to being truthful? Having a conscience? Being true to one's self? I really do try not to lie. Even a white lie is hard for me. If I have something that I do not want to say, I usually just say "I do not feel comfortable divulging that information" or something to that effect. I may refuse to lie but I refuse to be vindictive or malicious, contrary to popular belief. My main goal in life is to live w/ no regrets. So far I am successful... Yet I find myself suffering because of other peoples' lies. How the hell is that possible!?

WTF is up w/ this "summer cold" that is going around? My dad has been sick for the past 4 days... Along with EVERYBODY that has come into the office today. I was instructed by my boss to OD on some OJ & H2O. I just want him better not only for his sake but for my own. He is GROUCHY!

ON WITH THE POSITIVITY: The Confessions of a Shopaholic DVD was released today & Krys is buying it for me on Thursday. YAY TO DVDS ON SALE AT WAL-MART!

ONE MORE THING: Linda & I are brainstorming about a family gathering to celebrate my grammy's recovery. We anticipate sometime in September. EVERYONE will be invited and when I mean everyone that includes Krys's favorite uncle LOL *whispers* in all honesty, i hope it is closer to new year so that I can save up. I anticipate spoiling Lily when Sunshine & Robert visit in October.

For the past 2 months I have been analyzing my thoughts, feelings and reactions. I have come to the conclusion that I have come a long way and I have a bit more to improve on. Sometimes I run on pure emotions. I try to keep my mind pure with thoughts that are positive and encouraging. I think I have come a long way from being the bitter child that I was. All I want... NEED... is for the people around me to be on the same page.

I have tried to dissect the poison from my life then I realized... Some of that poison is blood. Since I can't change my lineage, I learn to either accept, ignore or disown. So far so good. But some "appendages" cannot be severed. I can honestly say I have not been jealous of anyone for a good part of 5 year. Usually when I feel the jealousy strings pulling at my heart I analyze it and most often than not it is because they have something I never thought I wanted. LOL I accept the feelings and figure out a way to obtain it.

But there is one person in particular that I half mixed feelings for. This person is the funniest person you could ever meet. Has the ability to put you at ease, feel like you are the center of attention and encourages spontaneity. Deep down inside I wish I possessed those abilities BUT not at the cost of others. I know I am speaking in mystery but this is as deep as I can get at the moment without having prying eyes go run back and gossip. Why blog about it? Because I can. Maybe in the hopes of that person confronting me. Hoping it will purge my soul. It has taken a lot of tension from my shoulders but my heart is still heavy. It is so easy to hate somebody for who they are and what they stand for. But it is torture to feel that way about blood. I feel like a bad person when I know I have worked so hard not to be.

On a very positive note, Dad is his own boss now. Yay!

After working for Mister Man, a family law attorney, I have come to the conclusion that people in general are extremely selfish. I will not elaborate other than saying this:

If you are a parent and you are in a physically abusive relationship, don't use the age old excuse of "I stay for the children". That in my opinion is pure bullsh*t! Just admit that you are either too insecure, ignorant and/or do not want to leave. But please do NOT use the children. From personal experience I know that it will NOT benefit the children. I can safely say that a child will rather be fatherless than live in an unhealthy enviroment. Millions of children are raised in a one-parent home and strive. There is help out there for you, you just need to want it.

My sister Liz, of Lazy Bone Creations, informed me back in April that she was contributing to Out of the Box Sampler. Being the curious person that I am, I checked out the site and I ordered the May box. A couple of weeks back, I got my box. It was like freakin' Christmas in May. I will be getting another box. I just have to wait until June auuuugh!

Anyhoo! In the box, I received some doggie fortune cookies from Buckaroo Bones on etsy.com. If you know anything about me, I love my furbebes and am thrilled when somebody gets me hip to something good for 'em. Well anyways, when I opened the bag I instantly wanted to eat one. Even though Mother's Day is NEXT Sunday,
I made my beautiful Nohno some yellow cupcakes w/ strawberry frosting. I am going to make her some red ones next time.

Krys & I have treated our Nohno w/ the cupcakes, a pedicure and her first eyebrow waxing as an early Mother's Day presents considering we will be in Gainesville visiting w/ our Nohno Mado for Mother's Day. Ever since Nohno Mado has been in the hospital we have been trying to go visit her every other weekend.

Hopefully we can take her out to Crackel Barrel (Nohno loves their buttermilk pancakes) for Mother's Day breakfast. We'll see what SHE wants to do. It is her day after all. LOL

Severe Cravings

I am having severe cravings for raw tuna & salmon.

My former physician informed me that cravings are our body's way of tellings us that we are lacking something in our diet. You'd think that I'd be cravings vegetables (LOL) Well I have decided to go to our local fish "market" and buy an insane amount of seafood. My cravings have gotten so bad that I cannot sleep at night. Granted I have a hard time going to sleep at night but these cravings are making me ravenous!

I have to also take a trip to Sam's Club because apparently they are the ONLY place in Panama City that sells lox... at a moderate price that is. I miss having a toasted poppy bagel w/ extra cream cheese & lox and w/ a bottle of ginger ale. (sighs) I miss my great grandmother Pauline. I guess I'm very nostalgic. I guess that is where my cravings are coming from. I associate a lot of my best times w/ food.

I was asked if I were pregnant. No, I am not. If I were, you'd have to call me semi-Mary because I have been on a personal sabatical for quite some time. LOL

Her name is Makai. She was made for me by sarahjohnsoncarter. When I first saw her I had to have her. She reminds me of a mini me... Even though I am compact already {LOL}. We are both pacific islanders (she came from Kaiwa, Hawaii) short, round, laughing, have beautiful hair, and always on the internet/computer.

Granted I could have made one myself like my dad indicated but I doubt I would have made her this cute. It is taking ALL my self control NOT to get her all glitter-fied. I will refrane because she is perfect just the way she is... Like me :)

From Marci my "Be My Valentine" swap partner. We were supposed to put together a package w/ the Valentine theme. Mine was FULL of goodies. From pedicure/manicure things to edible snacks. I even got two rubber stamps. Love them! What I REALLY like is the anklet that has a CUTE little hibiscus on it. Marci was so in tune w/ what I liked that I damn near cried... Hey I said DAMN NEAR... I DIDN'T! Well maybe I teared up... {laughs}

I only enter "parcel" swaps during holidays or a special event to spread the cheer. Besides whole point of swap-bot is to swap CRAFTS not receive presents. So far my experience has been quite interesting and entertaining although I have had the misfortune of being "flaked" on a couple of times. I swear... One bad apple...{shrugs}

What I really find amazing is to see others interpretations of these swaps. Speaking of which... I have to finish these ATCs for this "7 Deadly Sins" swap. Very curious as to what my partner is coming up with.

My baby sister Krys and I decided we wanted to make Valentine's Day cupcakes for the family, work and Ms. Ebony & her family. I did the frosting and Krys did the rest. I think she did an AWESOME job even though she was falling asleep. We're just trying to spread the love.

Dating Experience: 001 in 2009

How am I supposed to enjoy your company when it is clear that you don't even enjoy it yourself? I tried to lighten the mood by being casual and somewhat entertaining as not to have you cowar deeper into your own personal cave. I instantly noticed that that didin't work. I switch my game plan and asked you some of the prerequisit questions such as "Have you ever been to this restuarant?" or I even through out there "What do you like about your job?" I had the feeling that my generic questions were a bit personal for you so I decided to take the lead and tell you a bit about myself...

Then I must have hit a nerve because after I told you I was married before your nose wrinkled and your eyes turned to slits. I tried really hard not to get offended. I even took 3 deep breaths and allowed you to ask me all the questions that usually follow that statement. What I didn't anticipate was "What did you do to him?". Again I found myself getting defensive. Friends and family alike would tell you that I am not a very patient woman and that I am EASILY provoked. I did not take the bait. Instead, I said w/ great restraint that "We weren't right for each other. I needed a husband & he needed a part time wife." Then I hear what I can only explain as a snort errupt from your face and you continue to glare at me. I all of a sudden felt a calm overcome me then it felt like everyhthing I did was automatic. Ordering my food. Eating my food. Wiping my mouth and replacing my napkin on my lap. I did not even comment when there was a pregnant pause between my answers and your intrusive questions.

When we made it back to our cars, you looked at me in a very suspicious way. You even lightly touched my hand and arm that sent chills of dread up and down my arms. You leaned in and I could smell the garlic on your breathe. It must have been the facial expression I had on that made you stop. As I said before, everything seem to be on automatic because I could have sworn I heard myself say in a very calm and hushed voice, "After ALL that, you want a KISS? FROM ME? You've got to be kidding." It must have taken you a moment to register what I said because your mouth dropped open and I heard you inhale from what felt like a whole minute. That is when my ears started ringing.

Needless to say, you called me some chose words which I took pride in especially since it caused people passing by to either snicker or gauke at you. Like my friend said "The only people that make scenes are the trashy ones."

Just to think, I kind of liked you and was anticipating a very pleasant evening w/ you. Thank you for showing your true colors instead of having me weed out the bullshit from the genuine you 3 months later.

Nothing. I haven't put up any pictures. But in my closet there is my autographed Charmed picture that my sister got me when I was 22 and my 2009 wall calendar.

Being a grown up. I woke up when I was 26 and realized that I have a career, I have bad credit, I'm separated and I am always broke. It was a VERY liberating experience {laughs}

My Bloody Valentine 3D. My baby sister and I have never been to see a 3D movie and Jensen Ackles was in it so you KNOW we had to go.

My freedom. If you knew me, you'd know what I meant. I will not elaborate. I apologize. But the next thing I would buy is a home for all my siblings & parents.

15. If you could change one thing about the world, what would you change?
I would change the world's self sufficiency. We would all live like the Amish. Grow our own food, make our own clothes, build our own homes and etc... The possibilities are endless. It would most definitely help weed out the lazy people from the hard working. It would also help us appreciate our bodies and our planet a lot more.

I LOVE to dance... When nobody is looking.

Leila Renee. I have had that name picked out since I was 17.

Christmas w/ a Jewish Twist

What I know to be true:
I know the "TRUE" meaning of Christmas.
I know that Jesus was a Jew.
I know the "TRUE" meaning of Channukah.
I know how it is to be a Christian living in a Jewish home.
With that being said...
Merry Chrismakkah!

This year I would like to sample some traditional Channukkah recipes. I have found some for kugel, matzo stuffing, chicken matzo ball soup, and matzo brei. I grew up eating these dishes and I would LOVE to make some this year. I have a craving for them. I even considered going on cut out + keep to see if they still have those macaroon recipes & some Chanukkah decoration tips. I might even whip together some latkas for snacks to hold us over while we cook.

I am so excited this year because I have a distinct feeling that 2009 will be a very different and maybe a difficult year so I am trying to soak up ALL the holiday cheer.

This is what I received in my email today.
I teared up and I wanted to cry.
This reminds me of how much I missed my dad and brother when they were deployed.

I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat down in my assigned seat. It was going to be a long flight.
'I'm glad I have a good book to read. Perhaps I will get a short nap,' I thought.

Just before take-off, a line of soldiers came down the aisle and filled all the vacant seats, totally surrounding
me. I decided to start a conversation. 'Where are you headed?' I asked the soldier seated nearest to me.
'Chicago - to Great Lakes Base. We'll be there for two weeks for special training, and then we're being deployed to Iraq '
After flying for about an hour, an announcement was made that sack lunches were available for five dollars. It would be several hours before we reached Chicago, and I quickly decided a lunch would help pass the time.

As I reached for my wallet, I overheard soldier ask his buddy if he planned to buy lunch. 'No, that seems like a lot of money for just a sack lunch. Probably wouldn't be worth five bucks. I'll wait till we get to Chicago '

His friend agreed.

I looked around at the other soldiers. None were buying lunch. I walked to the back of the plane and handed the flight attendant a fifty dollar bill. 'Take a lunch to all those soldiers.' She grabbed my arms and squeezed tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked
me. 'My son was a soldier in Iraq; it's almost like you are doing it for him.'
Picking up ten sacks, she headed up the aisle to where the soldiers were seated. She stopped at my seat and asked, 'Which do you like best - beef or chicken?' 'Chicken,' I replied, wondering why she asked.
She turned and went to the front of plane, returning a minute later with a dinner plate from first class.

'This is your thanks.'

After we finished eating, I went again to the back of the plane, heading for the rest room. A man stopped me.
'I saw what you did. I want to be part of it. Here, take this.' He handed me twenty-five dollars.
Soon after I returned to my seat, I saw the Flight Captain coming down the aisle, looking at the aisle numbers as he
walked, I hoped he was not looking for me, but noticed he was looking at the numbers only on my side of the plane.
When he got to my row he stopped, smiled, held out his hand, and said, 'I want to shake your hand.'
Quickly unfastening my seat belt I stood and took the Captain's hand. With a booming voice he said, 'I was a soldier and I was a military pilot. Once, someone bought me a lunch. It was an act of kindness I never forgot.' I was embarrassed when applause was heard from all of the passengers.

Later I walked to the front of the plane so I could stretch my legs. A man who was seated about six rows in front of
me reached out his hand, wanting to shake mine. He left another twenty-five dollars in my palm. When we landed in Chicago I gathered my belongings and started to deplane. Waiting just inside the airplane door was a man who stopped me, put something in my shirt pocket, turned, and walked away without saying a word. Another twenty-five dollars!

Upon entering the terminal, I saw the soldiers gathering for their trip to the base. I walked over to them and handed them seventy-five dollars. 'It will take you some time to reach the base. It will be about time for a sandwich. God Bless You.'

Ten young men left that flight feeling the love and respect of their fellow travelers. As I walked briskly to my car, I whispered a prayer for their safe return. These soldiers were giving their all for our country. I could only give them a couple of meals.

It seemed so little...

I spend most of my day trying to make people's lives more comfortable and/or manageable through their transition into another lifestyle. I am a legal assisant to an attorney whose areas of expertise are in personal injury, criminial law and family law. Family law is what brings in the overhead. When I say family law, I mean divorces, child custody, child support and all the modifications that come with that. I can honestly say that what we do here makes a difference. But what we cannot offer are miracles. Even though the attorney makes it look like they are his special miracles for his clients.

I sometimes wish that people would walk in our shoes for a brief moment and understand that even though we might seem a bit "nonchalant" but we always care. People tend to feed off others energy so we keep calm, level headed and we keep our eyes on the ultimate picture... To get you what you deserve. Mind you, not what you think you deserve. What you might think is fair may not be what the judge orders or what is legal.

With all that being said, I want everyone that happens to come across my blog post to know that even though we may not shed tears for you, please know that when we go home at night we are thinking and sometimes worried for you. We are not robots. We just keep that strong armor on so you can make it to the end with us. ♥

Halloween is finally here! I have been waiting for this "holiday" since my birthday, which was back in July. Not because of the candy. I am very picky when it comes to candy. It either has to be milk chocolate or chew candies. I usually don't venture out because I've been burnt, literally, by candy. LOL It isn't obviously about the candy. It is about the creative minds of children. They have this idea of what they want to be and the parents have to execute it. I like the ones that will endure the face painting and elaborate costumes. They put it off so well. Nowadays, you see 10 year old wearing sexy kitten costumes... Um no! Not proper!

Not a lot of kids come out to my neighborhood anymore. They all go w/ their friends and family to the local churches. *sighs* I miss them coming around. I bet we'll only have give or take 20 kids come out. That's good because we only made 20 treat bags... Speaking of which.

Mi mami & I put together little treat bags for the lil goblins. (Note to self: Take pics of treat bags) They are so cute. They have a singular black cat w/ a witch's hate. My mom asked me why I am doing this and I told her "So the little kids can have Christmas on Halloween". Yet another holiday I am so looking forward to.

I have been so creatively inspired these last few months that it is kind of scaring me. LOL The more I do creatively, the more I feel better about the person I am becoming.

I enjoy going to Target & Kohl's to find shirts for myself. They seem to be the only stores where I can get quality shorts, guaranteed to have my size and at a moderate price. Old Navy is a close 2nd to the aforementioned. I am not going to sugar coat it. I am fat. According to my physician I am obese. My problem is not with food consumption but keeping my body active. I was instructed to do something physical every day for at least 20 minutes. I confess, I do NOT like to work out. I used to but I've gotten so lazy. Now I am paying for it. I am now 28 years old and I have decided that I will treat my body the way it should be treated.

Not only will I continue with my organic body treatment outside but also within. I want to look 20 something when I am late 30 something. I have to start loving me more than I love procrastinating. That is going to be challenge because procrastinating and I have had a long term love affair.

Oh I digress. My triumph is that I can now shop in the ladies section. I mean I understand I am still a bit too big for a lot of the clothing in the ladies section but I do not have to JUST shop in the plus size section. That might sound a bit odd to some people but I have come a long way. I hope to fit into a moderate size by New Year's Eve. I am actually excited.

Around this time last year I was bombarded w/ HP all over the place.
Now this year I can't find ANYTHING...
I take that back I found some lonely HP UNO cards.
Yes some freakin' UNO cards.
NOTHING ELSE.
For the life of me I cannot find ANY HP in PC [panama city, fl]
Some help would be much appreciated...
I guess I'll just have to print some HP off the inet [ugh!]

Oh the reason why I'm asking is because I am trying to purchase an 2009 HP calendar for my baby sister. Its been a "tradition" since the first HP movie came out... WOW that was over 7 years ago. I am getting OLD! [tear]

So Unorganized

So I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and spent damn near 2 hours in there. I walked out w/ about $50 worth of arts and crafts. I had an idea but it seemed to have been 3 ideas mixed up. I realized I only left w/ bits and pieces. All that time and not ONE project could have been done.

My Crafty Chica empowerment statue came about 2 weeks ago. Well yesterday my Crafty Chica "Chica Paints" came in so now I can actually paint her. Why did I wait so long for the paint? I wanted to test out the new Crafty Chica paint that's why! But guess what? I don't have any brushes. Man WTF!?

I have a wedding reception to attend on Friday... No outfit & no present. My grandmother's birthday is Friday... No present. Jase's birthday is next Thursday... No present. CLM's birthday is a week or two after... No present.

So basically I have a WHOLE LOT OF CRAFTS, fragments of ideas, too many occassions and not enough hours in the day. I think I need an individual idea check list. POST-IT's galore! I wish I didn't procrastinate and understood that when you are trying to be crafty/artistic, you won't be perfect.

My First Swap

I signed up at swap-bot.com the other day after reading Yoli's (sacred snatch) myspace blog about a swap that she has organized on swap-bot. I think Yoli is pretty awesome so I HAD to check it out.

I must say I like it so far. I was a bit overwhelmed because I haven't been crafting that long & most of my creativity is done on web design.

Herbaria All Natural Soap

I found yet another soap site online that I thought that seemed to be very interesting. I ordered a soap gift set from Herbaria Soap. Go check it out & I will post a review & pictures when I get my package.

Some of you may wonder what I've been doing w/ all these soaps I've been purchasing. Well I test them to begin with. My sister has eczema so her skin is very sensitive and she is highly allergic of certain chemicals. I have learned to respect her skin's preference to certain products and I have come to realize that whatever works on her skin is usually a product that is of great quality, moisturizes and healths the skin. Basically whatever is good for her is great for me.

ALSO, Christmas is just around the corner. I want to give my friends & family gifts that I think are not only great for their body but is good for the enviroment. NO I have NOT jumping on the "go green" bandwagon. I have noticed that companies that usually go organic usually do not promote or conduct animal testing. I am a dog lover and I have become very consciously aware of what I use and consume. I guess I'm getting older and wiser. *shrugs*

New Soap... Kopah

On or about Aug. 19th, I ordered the "Sample Soaps Gift Set" from Kopah which are all natural soaps made by the talented Candice.

I had the yearning to emerce myself in a large body of aqua, which I mentioned in my previous post, hit me. Well thanks to tropical storm Fay, my plans to go to the pool were ruined.

But every cloud has its silver lining. Not even expecting anything in the mail this morning, my mother handed me the package that contained my order of Kopah soap. I squealed like a little girl on her birthday as I opened it.

The soaps are SO CUTE & smell ABSOLUTELY DIVINE! *sniff sniff* True soapaholic!

Since they are only 1 oz a piece, I will use a couple as guest soaps and the rest I will test in the shower. Too bad they were not labeled. It took my nose aka "the super sniffer" to decipher them. Which only took me a minute :)

Rather Be At The Pool...

Man I really wish I had a pool. Have you ever heard of a pacific islander that would rather go to the pool than the beach!?

Well you have just met one. I would rather splash around the pool and live on the beach.

The image is of me and my sister at Shipwreck Island Waterpark here on Panama City Beach.

That was the FIRST time I have actually been in a bathing suit on the beach this year. At a freakin' waterpark. I am so suburbanized. *stands up* AND PROUD OF IT!

Every time I have went to the beach, something bad has happened. May it be minor to the time a school of stingrays circled around us. Yeah, I lost my cool. I was terrified! So I only go when people bully me into it, which isn't often or easy. Ask Suzie. *laughs*

Now my body is yearning for a large body of water. *sighs* I really wish I had a pool right now. I would purchase a $50+ pool at Target but my doggies will distro it in 30 seconds flat. What a dilemma!

To My Sister

As I sit here and reminisce on all the things that have happened in my 28 years on Earth, I doubt there are a lot of things in my life that make me smile as much as my family does. At this time I am missing one person in particular. Hopefully the next conversation I have with her is tomorrow. I am going to request that we go down memory lane.

Do you remember when you used to mix together soy sauce, salt, pepper, garlic salt, water and oranges and made me sample your cuisine? I painfully do. You said you were the next Julia Childs.

Do you recall asking me if I think girls get hurt when somebody junk punches them? I may not recall the 1st experience, but I sure as hell remember the 2nd. And to answer your question... HELLS YEAH THAT SHIT HURTS!

Do you have any recollection of me saving your life? That was the 2nd scariest day of my life. I recall fogged glasses and you yelling at me. After you finished yelling at me I remember pulling you out and crying.

Do you have any memories of that day when I told you he was too young for you? Every time I think of that day, my heart tightens. What I also remember vividly is when he said “I do” to you March 3rd, 10 years later. Hopefully you do not recall the advice I gave you. I was so off.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t remember any of those memories. I do. I have the distinct feeling that I will NEVER forget. These are stories I will be telling our children and their children. I hope we get to make more memories not only together but w/ everyone else that matters.

Thank you for being my sister & loving me the way you do. I wouldn’t trade you for anything in the world… well maybe for 50 million dollars. Not a penny less.

Weekend Movie Review

Like every other weekend, I peruse through my Compact On Demand to view a new movie in the comfort of my own home.

I've read great reviews on "Dan In Real Life". My opinion of the movie is favorable. Like a lot of Steve Carell's characters, he is mild mannered and his intentions are always good. Unlike his "40 Year Old Virgin" character, Dan has actually has had sex. Matter of fact, he has 3 very emotional daughters. I enjoyed the movie. I recommend it to all the people that like romantic comedies, Steve Carell and forbidden love.

Coincidentally, Emily Blunt has a part in the movie. If you watched "The Jane Austen Book Club", you would have noticed that Ms. Blunt played Purdie. I have become a fan of Ms. Blunt's. I have admired her performances since "The Devil Wears Prada".

"I Like It Like That" (1994)

Now this is a throwback movie.

I first saw this movie at the tender age of 15. I do not recommend any parents to view this while their children are awake or in the same room. Lets just say it started off really "strong".

If you like the more intense, confusing, inner workings of young romance, well then this is the movie for you. I thought this movie was written and directed by Spike Lee because it was satirical and emerced in the urban community. One main Spike Lee ingredient was lacking... A message. I investigated the movie and found out it was written and directed by Darnell Martin.

Mr. Martin now writes for Law & Order. Very impressive.

Missing Friends.

*** This was sent to me in an email. I just thought it was the saddest most heart breaking story. It reminded me of when we put our dog Copper dow nand our other dog Shadow waiting for Copper to come home. So sad!

Twenty-one years ago, my husband gave me Sam, an eight-week-old schnauzer, to help ease the loss of our daughter who was stillborn. Sam and I developed a very special bond over the next fourteen years. It seemed that nothing that happened could ever change that.

At one point, my husband and I decide to relocate from our New York apartment to a new home in New Jersey. After we were there awhile, our neighbor, whose cat had recently had kittens, asked us if we would like one. We were a little apprehensive about Sam's jealousy and how he would handle his turf being invaded but we decided to risk it and agree to take a kitten.

We picked a little gray, playful ball of fur. It was like having a road runner in the house. She raced around chasing imaginary mice and squirrels and vaulted from table to chair in the blink of an eye, so we named her Lightning. At first, Sam and Lighting were very cautious with each other and kept their distance. But slowly, as the days went on, Lighting started following Sam - up the stairs, down the stairs, into the kitchen to watch him eat, into the living room to watch him sleep. As time passed, they became inseparable. When they slept, it was always together; when they ate, it was always next to each other. When I played with one, the other joined in. If Sam barked at something, Lightning ran to see what it was. When I took either one out of the house, the other was always waiting by the door when we returned. That was the way it was for years.

Then, without any warning, Sam began suffering from convulsions and was diagnosed as having a weak heart. I had no other choice but to have him put down. The pain of making that decision, however, was nothing compared with what I experienced when I had to leave Sam at the vet and walk into our house alone. This time, there was no Sam for Lightning to greet and no way to explain why she would never see her friend again.

In the days that followed, Lightning seemed heartbroken. She could not tell me in words that she was suffering but I could see the pain and disappointment in her eyes whenever anyone opened the front door or the hope whenever she heard a dog bark.

The weeks wore on and the cat's sorrow seemed to be lifting. One day as I walked into our living room, I happened to glance down on the floor next to our sofa where we had a sculptured replica of Sam that we had bought a few years before. Lying next to the statue, one arm wrapped around the statue's neck, was Lightning, contentedly sleeping with her best friend.

They recruit Sylvia's daughter Allegra; Prudie, a young teacher whose marriage may be on the rocks; and Grigg, a sci-fi fan who joins out of attraction to Jocelyn. The six read and discuss one Austen novel per month. Jocelyn tries to interest Grigg in Sylvia; Allegra falls in love with a woman she meets skydiving; Prudie contemplates an affair with a student; Sylvia's ex keeps popping up. In the discussions, characters reveal themselves in their comments. By the end, are truths universally acknowledged?

My Review:
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Not only is it inspired by the amazing Jane Austen but life once again imitates art. Your heart strings will experience tragedy, love, forbidden passion, understanding and forgiveness.

The interaction and comradery of the characters made me yearn for my close knit friends to sit at a local Starbucks or in our homes sipping on red wine and have inspirational and throught provoking conversations. Discuss life, love and how not only to guide each other but also inspire one another. This movie inspired me to go out and explore everything new with a fair amount of self control and wonder... "What Would Jane Do?"

I recommend not only the movie but the book to ALL Jane Austen fans.

Woe to Me...

All my life I've been told I am creative.
I could put anything together and make it just so.
I am a perfectionist ... of sorts.
Up until like six (6) months ago I have not done ANYTHING creative.
Slowly but surely I have opened up my mind to all the possiblities.
I've taken back up cooking, baking, journaling and designing my website.
Which is JUKIE-FIED.COM (yeah I plugged myself *laughs*)
Recently I have taken up scrapbooking, beading and cake decortating...
About cake decorating, I used to do it back in high school & I have found the passion again.
Hopefully I can find my way back to pastry school...
Or I succumb to self torture and get my AA to become a paralegal.
NO MORE CUBICAL WORK FOR ME!
I think my creative soul was crushed by the corparate world.
Oh woe to me. *laughs*

I pray that my creativity well does not dry up and I become unable to produce something pretty again.

So far I am very optimistic. Very unusually for me. *laughs*

Not Morgan Freeman!

TMZ reported today the following about Morgan Freeman:
TMZ has learned that Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman, 71, has been injured in a serious car accident in Mississippi.
Cops tell us the "Dark Knight" star was in a one car accident around 11:30 PM last night north of the small town of Ruleville. He was airlifted from the accident scene to a hospital in Memphis, Tenn. We're told alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the wreck, news of which was first reported by MediaTakeout.
Freeman's condition is unknown, but state troopers tell us he was talking at the scene before he was taken to the hospital. The condition of an unidentified female passenger in the car is also unknown.

Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was injured in a car accident late Sunday night and is in a hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Kathy Stringer said Freeman, 71, is in serious condition. The hospital is about 90 miles north of the accident scene in rural Tallahatchie County in the Mississippi Delta.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Ben Williams confirmed Freeman was in a wreck shortly before midnight Sunday, but said he was still gathering information and had few details Monday.

Clay McFerrin, editor of Sun Sentinel in Charleston, said he arrived at the accident scene on Mississippi Highway 32 soon after it happened about 4 miles west of Charleston, not far from where Freeman owns a home with his wife.

McFerrin said it appeared that Freeman's car was airborne when it left the highway and landed in a ditch.

"They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle," McFerrin said. "He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point."

McFerrin said bystanders converged on the scene trying to get a glimpse of the actor.

When one person tried to snap a photo with a cell phone camera, Freeman joked, "no freebies, no freebies," McFerrin said.

The hospital where Freeman is being treated is commonly known as The Med, and is an acute-care teaching facility that serves patients within 150 miles of Memphis.

Mummies, Vampires & Literature... Oh My!

I finally got my organic vegan 100% natural (whatever that means) soap from http://oracleorganics.com/. I have used the "Purify" soap which is a salt bar w/ green tea extract. I can honestly say that I like the product thus far. I've been sniffing the bars of soap, they remind me of my mom's spice cabinet. I really like it.

On Friday, "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" came out. I am a fan of the "The Mummy" series so I HAD to go. A lot of great special effects, explosions, rapid gun fire, bazookas, martial arts, fight scenes, resurrecting the dead and of course Brendan Fraser. So basically a typical Mummy movie. I liked it. Moving on...

Also on Friday, rather at 12:00 a.m. Aug. 2nd, was the release "party" of Stephanie Meyer's "Breaking Dawn". It was just as big as the whole Harry Potter situation at Books-A-Million. I normally do not accompany Krys but I was the one that pre-purchased her book & I was curious as how one of these things operate. It was pretty interesting to say the least.

After 2 HOURS inside of Books-A-Million... This is ALL I got.

Just joking! I had a BLAST w/ Krys.
